BIO
Ruizhe Liu (b. 2005, Beijing, China) is a multidisciplinary artist currently based between Rhode Island, United States, and Beijing, China. He is currently pursuing a BFA at Rhode Island School of Design, working primarily across sculpture, installation, photography, and spatial intervention. Ruizhe's practice is best known for constructing psychologically charged environments that examine memory, ritual, displacement, and the unstable relationship between domestic objects and systems of control. Using materials such as wood, industrial hardware, video, and organic matter, his works often blur the boundaries between architecture, narrative, and bodily experience.
Ruizhe’s recent projects explore structures of repetition, emotional detachment, and the impossibility of fulfillment within contemporary social systems. Drawing from philosophy, urban memory, and personal experience, his installations frequently juxtapose fragile or intimate objects with rigid spatial frameworks, creating tensions between care and violence, familiarity and estrangement. His work investigates how environments shape perception and behavior, while questioning ideas of home, ritual, nostalgia, and collective identity.
